Finally I had an idea. If I slowed down the memory bus somehow, maybe the memory controller could then handle all 8 DIMMs. So I put 2 PC2-4200F 1GB DIMMs (DDR2-533 FB-DIMMs) in RAM slots 1 & 2. And then all 8GB of RAM was addressed in BIOS, and available in Windows 7. And as a bonus, it was addressing all 8 DIMMs in quad channel mode.

Thing is though, im almost certain its something to do with windows. The ram is set to stock speed and voltage, with looser timings due to a limited bios. Add to that that windows sees all the ram and windows itself never crashes, tells me that the ram is perfectly stable.
